Team Information

The Philanthropy Ventures team serves as a connection between the social sector and funders, working in close collaboration with non-profit organisations (NPOs) to enhance their fundraising capabilities and financial stability through different programmes. Simultaneously, the team works to engage funders to mobilize philanthropic resources, fostering the development of a dynamic funding ecosystem.

Desired outcomes of the team include:

  • · Engaging the local philanthropy ecosystem from both “top-down” and “bottom-up” perspectives
  • · Engaging NPOs towards improving their fundraising capabilities
  • · Scaling and developing new ways of giving via the Giving Circles Workstream

Description of Project

You will be supporting the Philanthropy Collective team in its work to scale and develop new ways of giving. In particular, you will be supporting the Giving Circles Initiative:

  1. Giving Circles

In 2023, NVPC started a Giving Circle pilot initiative to support lower-income families. The aim of a Giving Circle is to empower a circle of individuals coming together in their giving journey, where volunteers can choose to contribute their time, talent, treasure, ties and/or testimony to support a family-in-need, based on the volunteer’s preference. The main intention of the Giving Circle initiative is to build a relationship between the circle and the family, to encourage a deeper sustained engagement, and therefore more meaningful impact.

In 2024, NVPC is working towards scaling the Giving Circles Initiative across Singapore. Your role in this workstream includes:

a. Supporting the team with the development of resources and guides on kickstarting and sustaining giving circles

b. Supporting the team in designing and executing training sessions for giving circles

c. Engaging key partners and stakeholders to onboard them onto the Giving Circle Initiative

Job Scope

  • Developing of guides and resources for new giving circles
  • Developing pre, post and mid-point evaluation processes for tracking of giving circles across Singapore
  • Project management support for various giving circle training sessions
  • General operational support for virtual/physical events and meetings, including notetaking, timekeeping, attendance taking, calendaring, etc.
  • Creation of giving circle publicity materials on marketing channels such as LinkedIn, EDM (electronic direct mailers), web, and editorial/articles 
  • Any other tasks relating to projects or other responsibilities within the PC team

Requirements:

  • Penultimate or Final Year tertiary student from social work or social science (sociology, psychology, anthropology or similar) discipline, preferably with background or interest in social issues
  • Passionate about some community(ies) they are active in
  • Outgoing, comfortable with interacting with new people from different communities
  • Someone who is curious, takes initiative and pride in the work that they do
  • Events, programme design and facilitation experience
  • Strong writing, analysis, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in creative design and content writing
  • Self-starter, independent, possesses a high degree of discipline and commitment 
  • Good sensibility, interpersonal and communication skills, especially with stakeholders of different levels

  • Wider landscape understanding of community needs
  • Ability to create tangible difference in the lives of families in need by supporting the scaling of the giving circles initiative
  • Partnerships and administrative work such as stakeholder engagement and communication
  • Content creation, programme design, facilitation & event planning experience

We are looking to hire interns who are able to commit for more than 4 months.
