We are CNPL - Leadership and Performance
The Centre for Non-Profit Leadership (CNPL) originated as Mentoring Partnership International in 2006, championing quality mentoring through training, consultation and research. By 2009, it had broadened its scope to inculcating best practices in leadership for the Non-Profit Organisations (NPO) sector, instigating a change to its present name to better reflect its mission of nurturing planned leadership capability for the sector. It registered as a charity in 2010.
Meet our Leadership and Performance team.
Let's get started
What We Do
BoardMatch
BoardMatch is our flagship programme to bring diversity and rejuvenation to Boards of non-profit organisations (NPOs) by matching senior executives with at least five years of management and leadership experiences from both the public and private sectors to the Boards of NPOs.
I had an intention, but I did not know what to do with it. It was great to have CNPL act as an advisor and connector.

BoardPulse
BoardPulse is a self-assessment diagnostic tool for Charities and NPO Boards to further strengthen their leadership capability and capacity. It provides insights for Boards to reflect upon their developmental next steps to enhance overall effectiveness and efficiency.
We are thankful to CNPL for the great support provided in this BoardPulse journey for our charity. We kickstarted with our directors and management taking time to critically evaluate ourselves after performing the self-assessment survey provided by CNPL. Thereafter, we were provided with consultation support followed by a half-day workshop which was well facilitated by Sean from International Association of Facilitators. The workshop allowed us to come together, interpret results and brainstorm on concrete action plans so as to improve board and management effectiveness. The BoardPulse assessment is certainly beneficial for any charity that wants to stock take, self evaluate and improve to bring the organisation to the next level. We would like to thank Stacey Loh and Sean Tan and team for providing us such a wonderful support in this journey!
Doris Ng, Executive Director, ISCOS Regen Fund
Many thanks to Stacey Loh and the CNPL Team for supporting The Island Foundation through the BoardPulse 2021 Programme. The organisation was exemplary throughout and your choice of Grace Tan as our head facilitator was inspired. The whole process was performed in a collegiate and supportive manner, with the few challenges we faced solved together. Overall the survey provided great insights and the workshop generated a list of important but achievable action points. In particular I would like to highlight the vital role that Grace played in not only facilitating the session but even more importantly, setting us up for success through her fastidious pre-work. I hope to look back on this process as the catalyst for the next stage of our development as a board.

Board Advisory
Board Advisory Services (in partnership with Commissioner of Charities) is a complimentary consultation sessions for Charities and Non-Profits on how to strengthen capability and capacity through board renewal and succession planning, and how they can enhance their leadership and board effectiveness, thus strengthening governance practices.
CNPL (Kitson and team) did very well for the facilitation of the session with our board members. Kitson’s wealth of experience with boards and board members has been extremely valuable to us. We made good use of the time we had and the CNPL team helped us to focus. I like the set-up of the session as it gives the atmosphere of a sharing session, where we are able to truly share and learn a lot about ourselves and about each other: We shared about our values, thoughts and behaviour, etc. It is unlike a training or a strategy-forming session. Even during the breakout and group sessions, the CNPL team was able to guide and really understand our discussions.

BoardConnect
BoardConnect Series are specially curated sessions where topics of interest are being delivered via a panel of experts (professionals) and practitioners (current Board members or Executive Directors equivalent) in a panel setting or via workshop-style format. This is where participants will be able to ask pressing questions in an interactive and engaging style.
The techniques and knowledge shared by experienced panellists had enabled me to have a better insight in strategizing the ‘right’ level of board engagement. The webinar had benefitted me in my course of work and had recently applied the stakeholder engagement assessment matrix.

S.T.A.R Mentorship
S.T.A.R. Mentorship Programme is a programme supported by the Tote Board’s Non-Profit Sector Transformation Initiative (TB-NTI). It aims to provide a platform for experience NPO Leaders to share their knowledge and expertise with new NPO Leaders. By pairing each Mentor to a Mentee, we hope to provide our Mentees with the additional support they need to take their respective NPOs to even greater heights.
As a young woman who had leadership suddenly thrust upon her shoulders, I was glad for Swee Ping’s (my mentor’s) encouragement and her wealth of experience which, coupled with her constancy and authenticity, kept us both pointed towards our North Star as we navigated the tumultuous waters of leading our organisations through the challenges mounted by Covid-19.
