Introduction

Communities of Good

A City of Good is made up of people who care for one another and take action to make society better for all.

The Communities of Good Award serves to recognise remarkable, highly impactful charity organisations and outstanding groundups that have driven positive change through community-based solutions and people-initiated action.

Charities and/or Groundups may apply or be nominated for the Communities of Good Award. To ensure a complete application, the entry must be jointly completed by both the nominee/applicant and the nominator/referee.

Award Categories

There are 3 different categories for the Communities of Good Award.
Communities of Good - Charities (Large)

Gross annual receipts or total expenditure (whichever is higher) of $10 million or more in the immediate preceding financial year

Communities of Good - Charities (Small & Medium)

Gross annual receipts or total expenditure (whichever is higher) of less than $10 million in the immediate preceding financial year

Communities of Good - Groundups

A group of individuals working collaboratively on a voluntary/unpaid basis, to carry out a non-profit, self-organised project or initiative that benefits the community.

Eligibility & Criteria

Please proceed with completing this application form only if the nominee/applicant fulfils the following criteria:

Charities:

  • Be a registered charity and/or an Institution of a Public Character (IPC) which has been in operation in Singapore for at least three years.
  • Not a PVPA recipient in the past three years for the “Organisations of Good” category.
  • Size criterion is based on gross annual receipts or total expenditure (whichever is higher) in the immediate preceding financial year. Proof of receipts for verification may be required and must be produced upon request.

Groundups:

  • The initiative should not be a registered organisation.
  • An active contributor to the community for at least two years (emphasis will be given to the contributions made in the last calendar year).
  • An inspiration and role model in the way it addressed community needs or effected positive social change in Singapore in the last calendar year.
  • Group members are not involved in any litigation or regulatory infraction at the point of submission.
  • Group members are not PVPA recipient(s) in the past three years in any PVPA categories for the same work stated in this nomination form.

  2. Deadline for submissions: 2 June 2025 (Monday), 2359.
  3. Applications with conflicts of interest* are not allowed.
  4. Applicants may be required to discuss their submissions with the PVPA Category Leads.
  5. An esteemed panel of judges representing the public, private and people / non-profit sector will evaluate your application.
  6. PVPA recipient and nominees must keep Award results confidential until NVPC’s official announcement. Awards, once made, may be withdrawn if there is non-disclosure or misrepresentation of material information, or for non-compliance of these conditions.
  7. All decisions relating to the Awards are final.
  8. All sensitive information submitted will be kept confidential. However, NVPC may share the contents of the nomination form publicly with the media or on our marketing platforms and publication materials for the purpose of publicity, marketing of PVPA, and other related programmes and initiatives.
  9. PVPA recipient may be invited by NVPC to share their award-winning practices and experience to inspire and empower others.

*Conflict-of-interest (COI)

For Individuals Nominees: A COI applies to members of the nominee/applicant’s immediate family (defined as their spouse, child, sibling, parent, stepchild, stepparent, as well as mother-, father-, son-, daughter-, brother-, or sister-in-law) and to any other individuals who live in their household except for tenants and household employees.

For Organisations: A COI applies to representatives of the nominated organisation (defined as employees, management representatives) including board members and/or advisory members.
