Nurturing the Next Generation of Givers

Nurturing the Next Generation of Givers

A caring, inclusive, and resilient society begins with the young. Our Next Gen strategy is focused on inspiring youths to see giving not as a one-off act, but as a natural and meaningful part of everyday life.

Insights from NVPC’s National Giving Study 2023 reinforce the importance of early exposure to giving and volunteering in shaping lifelong habits – and that’s where the schooling years play a part.

Giving Starts Young

Values are shaped early. When young people are given positive, authentic experiences of giving, they are more likely to carry these habits with them into adulthood.

That’s why NVPC works with schools and institutes of higher learning – places where curiosity is high, identities are forming, and the desire to make a difference is real. We encourage youths to embed giving into everyday experiences such as volunteering, fundraising, and purpose-driven initiatives so everyone can give in their own way.

Engaging The Youth

BAGUS Together was part of It’s Giving Fest 2025, a youth-powered festival to celebrate #SG60 and our youths’ hopes and aspirations for the future of Singapore. We also wrapped up the City of Good Film Festival at the event with two student films from LASALLE:  Joyride, a family drama about love, loss, and reconciliation, and Mushroom Boys, a docu about youths with intellectual disabilities working at a local mushroom farm.

At our booth, visitors also explored how to launch ground-up projects and finding ways to give or volunteer.

National Youth Forum 2025

NVPC’s BAGUS Together team was invited to booth at the SG Youth Forum 2025, a milestone event of the SG Youth Plan: Your Voice, Your Vision. The event drew around 1,300 attendees, engaged youths to share their aspirations, act on issues close to their hearts, and shape Singapore’s future together.

At our BAGUS Together booth in the SG Youth Forum Marketplace, we connected with youths and partner organisations, sparking conversations on how groundups from all causes can drive change. We were glad to stand alongside many other changemakers from across the people, private, and public sectors committed to supporting the dreams and goals of Singapore’s youths.
