When it comes to making the world a better place, multinational accounting, and auditing firm KPMG, is definitely, not a stranger. Recently, the global firm has committed more than US$1.5 billion over the next three years to specifically focus on the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) change agenda.

In Singapore, KPMG is extending the same by taking a very pro-active stance with their CSR efforts which are geared to uplift disadvantaged communities and more. For their hard work, they have recently been conferred with the Champions of Good (COG) award and selected as a President’s Volunteerism and Philanthropy Awards 2022 (PVPA) nominee in the Organisations of Good (Large Enterprise) category.

Rightfully so, in 2021 alone, KPMG Singapore has committed S$1,910,550 in Community Investment across several key programs, which include S$1,452,010 in cash donations and to top off, KPMG staff have also put in, in total, over 2400 volunteering hours.

This is a direct result of KPMG’s succinct Impact and Inclusion (I&I) strategy which has guided them to focus on five key pillars – Sustainability, Gender Equality, Abilities and Generations, via internal policies and even when engaging with their clients and communities.

One of the more outstanding works they did was organising the YMCA Inclusive Challenge. Employees, partners, alumni, and clients formed teams to run for good, and at the end of the event, they raised over S$ 25,000 where the proceeds were allocated to fund training youths with special needs.

The KPMG staff too had a hand in making their CSR efforts come alive and are committed to their communities. Through their volunteer leave policy, Give Time, staff have committed 40 hours of leave, volunteering with charities like Ground Up Initiative and many others. Staff are also encouraged to participate in Skills-based volunteering programmes like the RISE Mentorship (since 2017) and CV Clinics.

So what can we expect next from them?

One of the key efforts that KPMG in Singapore is planning to roll out, is an updated donation strategy, that looks at supporting community programs which are aligned with their focus areas.

In fact, through this new strategy they have already partnered with Community Chest for Giving Week and matched S$25,000 in donations to SPD’s Transition to Employment programme.

And of course, KPMG will continue to support the nation’s Giving Week initiative as they already have done so for the past four years since 2018. This continued initiative is an anchor programme that their employees look forward to participating and give back through various opportunities.

The annual President’s Volunteerism & Philantropy Awards is happening on 11th October, 2022. Stay tuned to our upcoming announcements of this year’s winners. To learn more about this year’s other nominees and their stories, click below!
