State of Play 2025 (SOP2025) is a dynamic, trade fair-style event designed to foster meaningful partnerships between companies and community organisations. Aimed at CSR managers and individuals dedicated to driving positive change, SOP2025 offers a comprehensive overview of the current landscape of the non-profit sector. The Fundraising Forum is designed for charity and fundraising professionals to explore the latest strategies in fundraising. Attendees will gain valuable insights into donor behaviour through a study of Giving.sg users, that will help strengthen their donor engagement efforts. Learn from successful case studies showcasing innovative approaches in the sector. The forum will also provide a unique opportunity to connect with industry leaders and practitioners, share experiences, and discover new ideas. The BAGUS Together Groundup Evening, themed around partnerships, offers a platform for groundup leaders and changemakers to appreciate current partners and explore potential collaborations. Attendees can look forward to an update on BAGUS Together’s achievements and future plans, partner recognition for their contributions, a panel discussion on the role of groundups in the community and how collaboration between groundups and partners can drive positive impact, as well as facilitated networking opportunities to build meaningful connections. Minister for Culture, Community and Youth & Second Minister for Law
Mr Edwin Tong SC was appointed Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, and Second Minister for Law on 27 July 2020.
As the Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, Mr Tong chairs the National Integration Council, the Singapore Cares Steering Committee, the National Youth Council, and the National Steering Committee on Racial and Religious Harmony, driving efforts to build a caring, cohesive and confident society in Singapore. Since November 2020, he also chairs the Chinese Community Liaison Group, which was set up to strengthen Government’s relationship with Chinese community organisations and deepen the Government’s understanding of the Chinese community.
At the Ministry of Law, he focuses on the development and promotion of Singapore’s legal and dispute resolution sector. He also handles wide-ranging aspects of law reform, including intellectual property, corporate restructuring and insolvency, and legal aid.
Before taking office, Mr Tong practised at Allen & Gledhill, where he was concurrently Head of the Restructuring and Corporate Insolvency Department, Co-Head of the Litigation & Dispute Resolution Department, and a member of the Exco. He was appointed Senior Counsel in 2015.
Mr Tong was educated at St Joseph’s Institution, Raffles Junior College and later read law at the National University of Singapore.
Mr. Piyush Gupta is the CEO and Director of DBS Group. Under his leadership, DBS has earned global recognition, including being named “World’s Best Bank” by Euromoney and Global Finance, and World’s Best Bank for Corporate Responsibility in the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2023. The bank also won the President’s Volunteerism and Philanthropy Award and has been an NVPC Champion of Good since 2017. Additionally, DBS contributed to NVPC’s Corporate Purpose Framework through its role in the Alliance for Action on Corporate Purpose.
Piyush was awarded the Public Service Star by the President of Singapore for his meritorious services in 2020. He is a recipient of the 2023 Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award, the highest honour conferred by the Indian Government on the country’s diaspora. Named one of the top-performing CEOs by Harvard Business Review in 2019 and Global Indian of the Year by the Economic Times in 2021, Piyush has received numerous accolades for his leadership and contributions to business and society.
Mr Seah Chin Siong was former President & Chief Executive Officer of the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM). He serves as Chairman of the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre and sits on several boards, including the Singapore Children’s Society, the Community Foundation of Singapore and the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore.
As PCEO, Chin Siong was responsible for leading SIM in the transformation of lifelong learning and education for individuals and organisations and enabling them for the future of work, by defining innovative learning pathways for people to maximise their potential and helping enterprises transform their workforce through customised role-based skills programmes.
Prior to this, Chin Siong was the Chief Executive Officer of Singapore Pools (Private) Limited. He was also the founding Chief Executive Officer of IDA International, a subsidiary of the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA). In his earlier years, Chin Siong was the Managing Director of Accenture’s Public Service Operating Group for Asia-Pacific and the Country Managing Director of Accenture Singapore.
Tony Soh is the Chief Executive Officer of the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre – the national agency promoting volunteerism and philanthropy. He aspires to build a City of Good for Singapore where individuals, communities, organisations and leaders give their best towards building a more caring, inclusive, and compassionate society.
Tony believes purpose can be embedded and activated in every organisation meaningfully and impactfully for the good of society. He is passionate about reimagining community and business systems to create a society that inspires and enables human flourishing.
In a career spanning more than three decades, Tony has held leadership and senior management roles in government ministries, a statutory board and a listed real estate company, with both regional and global responsibilities.
He also serves in a voluntary capacity as president and board member in youth and community service non-profit organisations.
For more than 30 years, Claus Meyer has been a gastronomic entrepreneur. Besides his countless companies employing more than 1000 staff, Meyer is an affiliated professor and distinguished alum at Copenhagen Business School, affiliated professor at Technical University of Denmark, and Social Impact Fellow at University of California, Berkeley Haas School of Business.
Through countless initiatives within the food and restaurant industries Meyer has inspired generations to expect the next meal to be delicious and healthy – and to consider eating an agricultural act. Inspired by his learnings from building noma with Rene Redzepi, and from initiating the Nordic Cuisine Movement, Meyer went on to pursue his dream to help unfold culinary potentials outside of Scandinavia.
The Melting Pot Foundation was initiated by Claus in 2011, who believed his professional experience in the culinary world could be applied to a philanthropic framework. As a registered nonprofit foundation, Melting Pot aims to drive social change through culinary entrepreneurship, both locally and globally, in countries as diverse as Denmark, Bolivia, the USA and Morocco. Melting Pot Foundation’s goal is to leverage hospitality as a tool that brings benefits, and joy, to the greatest possible number of people possible through Food and Culinary Centres and an agile mix of programs designed to serve the communities they are in.
Suhaimi Zainul-Abidin is CEO of Quantedge Capital. He was formerly Partner at Allen & Gledhill LLP., advising financial institutions and blue-chip corporations in financial transactions.
Suhaimi is a strong believer in skills-based volunteering. He contributes as a board member on the boards of a number of Singapore statutory boards and agencies, and non-profit organisations, each of which addresses matters and causes close to his heart. This includes the WWF, The Esplanade, NVPC, KidSTART Singapore Ltd, Warees Investments and TalentTrust Limited.
Suhaimi previously contributed to the review of Singapore’s Charity Code of Governance and Charity Transparency Framework and is currently a judge for the Charity Governance Awards. He was also previously a director on the board of National Environment Agency and Skillsfuture Singapore Agency, and a Council Member of the National Arts Council, Charity Council and the Council for Board Diversity.
Dr Ming Tan is the founding Executive Director of Tech for Good Institute, a non-profit founded to catalyse research and collaboration to leverage technology for a more equitable, inclusive and sustainable Southeast Asia.
Dr. Tan also serves as a Senior Fellow at the Centre for Governance and Sustainability at the National University of Singapore and an Advisor to the COMO Group. Her career spans both the private and non-profit sectors, with a significant focus on social impact. Previously, she was Managing Director of IPOS International, where she supported Singapore’s development as a global hub for intellectual property, as well as the Head of Stewardship of the COMO Group and Founding Executive Director of the COMO Foundation, a grant making organisation focused on advancing gender equity, which has positively impacted over 47 million women and girls worldwide.
A passionate advocate for corporate social responsibility, Dr. Tan serves on numerous boards, including the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre, the Singapore Network Information Centre (SGNIC) and other companies. She also serves on the Digital and Technology Panel of Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay and chairs the Asia Advisory Board for EHL Hospitality Business School. Her work encourages businesses to see social responsibility as an opportunity for long-term value creation, inspiring them to adopt more inclusive and sustainable practices.
Educated in Singapore, the United States (Stanford University), and England (Oxford University), Dr. Tan works to drive positive change, empower communities and promote social impact.
Mr Arthur Lang, 53, was appointed Group Chief Financial Officer on 1 April 2021. He is responsible for Singtel Group’s finance-related functions, including value creation, capital management and capital partnerships. He also oversees the management of the Group’s regional associates and its portfolio of strategic telecom investments. Additionally, he spearheads Singtel’s efforts in GXS, the regional digital bank joint venture with Grab.
Arthur joined Singtel in January 2017 as CEO, International. Before joining Singtel, he was Group CFO of CapitaLand, where he also ran CapitaLand’s real estate investment management business. He was awarded the Best CFO (Large Cap) at the 2015 Singapore Corporate Awards. Prior to CapitaLand, Arthur was at Morgan Stanley where he was Co-head of the Southeast Asia investment banking division and Chief Operating Officer of the Asia Pacific investment banking division.
Arthur was named Chairman of the National Kidney Foundation in November 2020. He is also a board member of Bharti Airtel, Intouch Holdings, AIS, GXS Bank, the Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund and Singapore Tourism Board. In 2018, Arthur was awarded the Public Service Medal for his contributions.
Arthur has an MBA from the Harvard Business School and a BA in Economics (magna cum laude) from Harvard University.
Farah Sanwari has spent most of her youth working at the intersection of sustainability, innovation, and community development. She co-founded FiTree, a Muslim environmental advocacy group, and Repair Kopitiam, a community initiative tackling the buy-and-throw-away culture through repair. She was part of the National Youth Council’s (NYC) Youth Circle, where she explored the potential impact of a Good Samaritan law to reduce food waste, later becoming an advisor for the NYC Youth Panel #Greenhacks to support youth-led sustainability initiatives. Her contributions earned her the Eco Friend Award in 2019 from Singapore’s National Environment Agency.
Farah is currently a Senior Manager at the Singapore International Foundation where she leads and implements youth programmes such as the ASEAN Youth Fellowship. At the side, she teaches futures thinking at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, where she designed and facilitated youth programmes such as the Singapore Futures Youth Competition and the Asian Undergraduate Summit Futures Workshop. Through her work, she continues to empower young leaders to drive impactful change in sustainability and strategic foresight.
Ming Xiu is the Founder & Executive Director of Campus PSY (Singapore), a registered non-profit organization that aims to promote mental health awareness and peer support among youths and young adults in the schools and workplaces.
He currently serves on the NVPC Youth Advisory Group and the Steering Committee of the Singapore Mental Well-being Network, the national partnership arm supporting the Interagency Taskforce on Mental Health and Well-being. He also co-chairs the Youth (Institutes of Higher Learning) Workgroup, under the National Mental Health Anti-Stigma Committee, “Beyond the Label” Collective.
In 2022, Ming Xiu was conferred the President’s Volunteerism & Philanthropy Awards (PVPA) – Leaders of Good (Youth) Award and the Singapore Youth Award (SYA) in 2019 for his contribution to the community.
He has also represented Singapore at various international programs, such as the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Professional Fellows Program 2023 with the U.S. Department of State, advocating for youth engagement in mental health and social impact.
