Hanli Hoefer and Kumar are no strangers to our TV screens. But this Giving Week, they’re lending their voice and humour to stand for causes close to their heart.
A VOICE FOR THE VOICELESS

You don’t need to know Hanli Hoefer in real life to know that she loves dogs. Even just scrolling through her Instagram account brings up countless pictures of her and her furry friends. In fact, she confesses that she’s never lived without a dog.
“At a young age, my pets taught me empathy, responsibility and loyalty. I feel that when you’re a child, and you are responsible for another life, it humbles you.”
Today, the 25-year-old MTV Asia VJ and Power 98 DJ owns a 3 year old mini Schnauzer. More than just a voice on the radio, she continues to be a passionate voice for our pawesome pals. For as long as she can remember, her family has been taking in dogs who have been abandoned or neglected, and in need of a home. In her personal capacity, she’s run birthday fundraisers for her favourite animal support groups, and been an advocate, alongside the Body Shop, against animal testing.
“I would like to use my voice to bring up conversations that we need to have. Especially when there are issues that I’m passionate about, like dogs.”

Hanli is a strong believer that it is our responsibility , to help those who can’t help themselves.
Animals, especially dogs, are innocent in this world.

This Giving Week, Hanli is supporting Oasis Second Chance Animal Shelter (OSCAS), inspired by her dog Zelda, who recently passed away. “Zelda lived a life full of love, and it made me realize that there is so much love in the world to give.”

Kumar clearly isn’t one to lie about his age. One of the nation’s most well-loved comedians turns 50 this year, and he can’t wait to celebrate the milestone with all of Singapore.
“Kumar50 will be the Golden Jubilee celebration of this Queen, an intimate celebration of my past 50 years, with stories from my bouncy birth to my life sharing of mirth,” he declares.
The Queen of Comedy, admits that he’s most proud of having made so many laugh, especially in a high-pressure and fast-paced society like Singapore. Looking forward at the next 50 years of his life, he wants to make giving back a priority.
There’s so much more to life when giving, instead of receiving. We need to realize that life needs to be celebrated, and that we are all born for a reason.
KUMAR
Comedian
Kumar is committed to supporting Beyond Social Services and highlighting the plight of underprivileged children in Singapore. Many of us may not realise the struggles faced by children who are caught in the poverty cycle.
To him, awareness is crucial. “Giving must be from the heart, and you need to be fully cognizant of what rock bottom is like, in order to be fully inspired to give.”
