Spurred by the roaring success of #GivingWeek, that ran from 1 to 7 December, Singapore continued to celebrate the true spirit of Christmas by making the festive season about more than just gifting.
Putting a smile on children’s faces
Education group ICON+ dedicated a whole week to spreading cheer to underprivileged children at the Infant Jesus Homes and Children’s Centres.
They brought in the festive mood early by helping the children bake gingerbread man cookies and making appreciation cards. They also conducted sing-along and craft sessions at the Simei Care Centre and Bishan Home for the Intellectually Disabled.
Saying thank you
NVPC partnered Singapore Post to print half a million thank-you postcards so that Singaporeans could send handwritten notes of gratitude to those who have made a difference.
The beautifully-designed, limited edition postcards were available for free in Singapore from December 1 to 15. But the postcards also made it made it all the way to San Francisco!
No giving boundaries
Boutique hotel chain Unlisted Collection: extended its giving beyond our shores by supporting Mercy Relief’s global work in disaster relief. Until May 31, 2016, it donated $30 for every direct booking made via their hotels’ brand website, to Mercy Relief.
Bags of love
Grocery delivery start-up Honestbeeencouraged Singaporeans to play fairy godmother, from their own homes. It joined hands with Beyond Social Services to distribute over 700 ‘Bags of Love’, worth $25 each, to the needy residents of Lengkok Bahru.
