Paintings will also be auctioned off at the end of the year and all proceeds raised will be donated to TOUCH Community Services, specifically TOUCH Home Care. Book your slot here.

DAY 4: Friday, 1 December

Befriend Post-Discharged Families & Individuals

10AM -11.30AM @ Jalan Kukoh

New Hope Befriender 1 1

New Hope Community Services is looking for volunteers to help engage residents who have been discharged from their transitional shelters. These residents were once from displaced families, who may otherwise have resorted to staying on the streets, parks, beaches etc. By befriending them, you can help ensure that these residents have a higher chance of being integrated back into society, and are not at risk of falling through the cracks again.

Volunteers need to be at least 25 years old, and if you’re feeling a little nervous, don’t worry! You’ll be taught basic engagement and conversational skills from New Hope’s social workers first.

Be a Child Minder for LCSS’ Christmas Extravaganza

11.30AM – 3PM @ Kallang

LCSS 1 1

Kick-start the festive season with Life Community Services Society! For the first time ever, they’re organising a two-day Christmas Extravaganza chock-full of family-friendly activities and performances by their beneficiaries. Volunteers are needed to mind the younger beneficiaries, and spend a fun day out with them at the extravaganza!

Note: You will need to be at least 17 years old, to sign up as a volunteer.

DAY 5: Saturday, 2 Dec

Par-tea at Singapore’s first Silent Tea Bar

3PM – 5PM @ Asian Civilisations Museum

Hush Tea Bar 1 1

Hush is a global movement to bring the worlds of hearing and the deaf together, encouraging silence and awareness, with a cup of tea. In this Hush@Community series, join our everyday heroes (cleaners, migrant workers, social workers, differently-abled persons etc) to share space in silence and solidarity, guided by deaf facilitators.

What stories can be shared in silence? Find out by experiencing it for yourself!

Geylang Adventures – Little India

2PM – 5PM @ Little India

Little India 2 1 1

If you want something a little less zen, but equally eye-opening, how about an adventure to Little India? The mess and scorch marks from the Dec 2013 riots are gone, but they left indelible marks on Little India that are still visible today. Just like last year’s Geylang Adventures, you’ll be taken off the tourist trail to explore lesser known spaces, communities and conflicts only insiders see.
