Our third intake of the Company of Good Fellowship graduated after their transformative five-month journey together! Read on for the highlights of the Fellowship 2019.

Grooming leaders of today, for a better tomorrow – the promise of the Company of Good Fellowship, a talent development programme for business professionals who have the drive to do good with their organisations, for the benefit of the community. Through the five months, our Fellows, laughed, learnt, reflected and bonded together as they journeyed through the giving landscape in Singapore and built their capabilities in doing good well.

Strangers, starting out on a journey

Hailing from different industries and sectors – from a multinational personal care company to an organisation in Singapore’s court system! – our 35 Fellows were inducted into the programme in May, kicking off their series of learning sessions, study visits, dialogue sessions and more.

Learning Session 1024x683 1
Literally building their vision of a City of Good with anything from building blocks to potted plants!

The first learning sessions revolved not just around understanding their personal leadership values that shape their capabilities at work, but about how they could then shape their vision of a City of Good – one that is progressive, inclusive, interconnected, and ultimately, a work shaped and owned by all of us.

Transformative experiences aplenty

Our Fellows stomped the grounds of various places of interest – Enabling Village, South Central Community Family Service Centre, and Ground-up Initiative. From understanding asset-based community development as an empowering approach to uplifting communities, to viewing Enabling Village’s structures in place to support and allow persons with disabilities to live their best lives, the Fellows gained new perspectives and nuances to these social issues.

All smiles at South Central Community Family Service Centre (SCCFSC), where Fellows saw the role of communities in a wider social support system. They also chatted with elderly residents, practising their skills in appreciative inquiry.

Arguably one of the highlights of the Fellowship would be the poverty simulation, an exercise of how the vicious cycle of poverty works for underprivileged members of the community

The vicious cycle of poverty explains the difficulty in getting out of poverty unless external intervention is applied – something the Fellows experienced firsthand in the simulation!

From lessons to action

The Fellowship journey was also augmented by sharing from industry practitioners and mentorships for the Fellows as they began developing their Action Projects, creating or improving a giving initiative in their respective organisations.

Panellists 1024x683 1
One panel from NUS Business School, Eco-Business and Singtel talked about the value of sustainability to organisations today, and of working with various stakeholders within and outside the organisation towards sustainable goals.

As one chapter closes, another begins

Our Fellows will continue to lead the way in their organisations, and in Singapore’s corporate giving ecosystem – and we’re so excited to see what’s to come!
