Organised by the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC), the President’s Volunteerism & Philanthropy Awards (PVPA) is the pinnacle award and platform to recognise individuals, organisations, and leaders who have achieved excellence in giving.
The City of Good Award recognises impactful cross-sector partnerships that have made a difference in our communities. For this year, we are thrilled to announce the winner for the City of Good Award – Sree Narayana Mission (Singapore) and Girl Guides Singapore!
City of Good Winner – Sree Narayana Mission (Singapore) x Girl Guides Singapore
The partnership between Sree Narayana Mission (SNM) Singapore and Girl Guides Singapore kicked off in 2010. Every March to December, Girl Guides from 30 schools conduct weekly Intergenerational Interaction programmes for seniors residing in SNM Nursing Home.
Through this program, students have developed empathy, understanding, and respect for the elderly, gaining a better understanding of the challenges faced by older adults with dementia and becoming advocates for their well-being.
For the seniors, these weekly interactions help combat feelings of loneliness and isolation.
As part of the program, Girl Guides Singapore also donated 1,400 kg of basmati rice, cookies, hampers, household items for the residents in the SNM Nursing Home.
