SINGAPORE, 18 November 2024 – The National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) today announced the launch of the Great Singapore Give (GSG), a nationwide giving campaign that will take place over four months from 18 November 2024 to 28 February 2025, to celebrate the season of giving, in conjunction with Singapore’s 60th year of independence celebrations. The GSG campaign aims to inspire Singaporeans to give everywhere and every day, whether through their time, talent, treasure, ties, or testimony using the giving.sg platform, through the tagline ‘Everyone Can Give’.

The GSG is one of the many activities leading up to the SG60 celebration in 2025. By creating different opportunities for individuals, groups and organisations to give what they can to support the different causes, the GSG hopes to nurture a culture of giving among Singaporeans, in line with the SG60 theme, ‘Building Our Singapore Together’.

At the heart of the GSG is SG Cares Giving Week, the pinnacle highlight of the campaign, running from 1 to 7 December 2024, which brings together more than 200 partners including corporations, charities, and ground-ups to create diverse giving opportunities for all Singaporeans.

Examples of these opportunities include:

  • Endowus Gives Back (EGB) is an initiative that encourages Singaporeans to help others chase and realise their dreams by getting people to give back to good causes. Each year, Endowus works with different charity organisations to reach out to and support diverse groups across Singapore. As people grow their wealth on the platform, Endowus wants them to be able to share that wealth and help others grow.
  • International Migrants Day (IMD) is observed annually on 18 December to recognise the important contributions of our migrant community. As part of this year’s IMD celebrations, the Ministry of Manpower’s Assurance, Care and Engagement (ACE) Group is collaborating with various partners to organise celebratory activities for migrant workers and migrant domestic workers. Members of the public are invited to participate in various volunteering activities to show appreciation for the migrant community in Singapore. These activities include:
    • 9 – 12 December: Pack goodie bags for the migrant community
    • 15 December: Distribute food and goodie bags to migrant community at the recreation centres
    • 15 December: Befriend migrants at the community celebration at Jurong Lake Gardens
    • To participate, members of the public can register through giving.sg
  • ‘Have A Seat’ fundraising drive by the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO). With a donation of $8,000, $15,000 or $25,000, donors can “adopt” a seat in the orchestra, marking it with a dedicated plaque for the next five years. Proceeds from this fundraising drive will go towards SSO Endowment Fund and SSO children’s programmes.

For a list of participating partners and giving opportunities, please refer to Annex A.

To encourage sustained donations, from 18 November onwards, giving.sg will also unveil a recurring donation feature for fundraising campaigns, offering givers an option to pledge monthly donations to causes and campaigns of their choice.

Mr Tony Soh, CEO of NVPC, said, “This year’s Great Singapore Give campaign celebrates the belief that each of us has the power to give, everywhere and every day. By extending the giving season to four months, we hope to offer a range of giving opportunities that resonate not only with individuals but also with organisations and groups across Singapore. The strong support for this campaign—with over 200 partners and activations—reflects our Singapore spirit of lifting one another up and sets a meaningful tone as we approach the SG60 celebration in 2025.”

The GSG campaign is supported by season sponsors such as CapitaLand, Lendlease, Link Malls, ParkRoyal, Servcare, Singapore Power, StanChart Tampines West Merchants Association, Trip.com, UOB Bank and Vicinity Studios. Among other forms of support, season sponsors help provide spaces and facilities at pro-bono rates to further amplify the reach of the GSG and SG Cares Giving Week.

More details of the SG Cares Giving Week will also be unveiled on 1 December 2024. For more information about Great Singapore Give 2024 visit: www.giving.sg/great-singapore-give
