The National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) Appoints Four New Board Members with Diverse Experience Across Public, Private and People Sectors

Singapore, 1 October 2024 The National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) announced changes to its Board Members today, as part of the Centre’s Board renewal exercise, with four new appointments and three members stepping down.  

2. NVPC Board Members play an important role as stewards of the organisation, supporting and guiding the organisation towards achieving its short and medium-term goals as well as long-term aspirations. Regular renewal of the Board is crucial as new Board Members can bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas, ensuring NVPC remains adaptive and responsive to the evolving needs of the stakeholders it serves, which include the public, private, and people sectors. The NVPC Board works closely with the Management Team to align the organisation’s strategies with its purpose of nurturing the heart of Singapore and its mission of growing a culture of giving in Singapore, together progressing towards its vision of Singapore as a City of Good. 

3. The four new Board Members, with diverse experience from different industries, backgrounds and sectors, are: 

  • Mr Mohamed Irshad (Head of Corporate Affairs for ASEAN, Tata Consultancy Services, and former Nominated Member of Parliament) 
  • Ms Liew Wei Li (Director-General, Ministry of Education Singapore)
  • Mr Shee Tse Koon (Group Executive & Group Head, Consumer Banking & Wealth Management, DBS Bank)
  • Dr Ming Tan (Advisor, COMO Group and Founding Executive Director, Tech for Good Institute) 

4. Mr Seah Chin Siong and Ms Chong Ee Rong will be reappointed, as Chairman and Vice Chairman of the NVPC Board respectively, together with eight other current Board Members.  

5. Three Board Members will also be stepping down from their roles: Ms Cho Pei Lin, Mr Edmund Wong and Mr Sim Guan Seng. The outgoing Board Members have made important and invaluable contributions during their tenures at NVPC. Ms Cho has helped to elevate the overall organisational communications strategy and provided important input and perspectives on the needs of charities, while Mr Wong and Mr Sim have contributed to enhancing NVPC’s corporate governance and financial management through their roles as Audit and Risk Management Chair and Finance Chair respectively. 

6. Said Mr Seah, Chairman of NVPC, “Our Board Members play an important role in ensuring NVPC’s success. Their diverse expertise, valuable insights, and commitment to governance drive our mission forward and ensure that we operate with integrity and purpose. The collective wisdom and guidance they provide helped shape our strategic direction, uphold our values and support our efforts toward our goals. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Board Members who have completed their term with us for their service and contributions over the years. Their leadership has been instrumental in guiding NVPC to where we are today.”
